Could this 42 year old 106.4kg (234.1 lbs) lardman (weight on 1st Feb 2006) complete the Taupo 2007 Ironman on March 3rd 2007? - YES!!
The challenge however is to beat Gordon Haller's winning time of 11 hours, 46 minutes and 58 seconds, recorded in Hawaii in 1978 - the first ever ironman event.
After NINE attempts with two 12 hours 30 min finishes there is still a bit of work to be done before this challenge is completed, but then we have tried all the hardest Ironman events on the circuite including two "World Championships". The experience though in tackling these hard events truly inspires me to complete the challenge. If Ironman was easy, everybody would be doing it.
- Success comes in cans not cant’s.
- Life is a journey, not a destination.
- Remember that failure is an event, not a person.
